A season chock full of first-time accomplishments for the New York University men's cross country team added yet another when head coach Nick McDonough captured the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year award.

McDonough garnered the award after guiding the Violets to their first-ever NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional team title last Saturday, November 11. NYU qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship -- being held at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio, on Saturday, November 18, at 11 am -- for the third time in four seasons.

McDonough and assistant Crystal Winter earned the University Athletic Association (UAA) Coaching Staff of the Year accolade after the Violets captured their first UAA Championship in the 20-year history of the conference championship meet.

In addition to the Violets' championship success, they also earned their highest national ranking in program history, climbing to #3 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Poll on October 17. NYU's ascent came after placing second in the team race at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational that feature eight ranked teams.
